The case
A12: “Henley’s translation is an especially revealing example because the criminal slang doesn’t merely describe an underworld. It creates the impression that the poem is being spoken from within that world. If you translated every term perfectly while making the speaker sound like an academic sociologist, you’d have changed something fundamental even if every proposition survived.”
What it can show
The sufficiency half of CLAIM-061: propositions held fixed, footing changed, and the rendering fails. It is the cleanest form of that argument in the exchange, and it was not carried into the manuscript, whose §1 states the conclusion without it. As a thought experiment it relies on the reader’s judgement that something fundamental changed.
