Standing in the record
Registered on 2026-09-29 at the owner’s request, because the owner’s prior-art novelty map (a private working document on concepts as projectors, the linear representation hypothesis and their neighbours) cites it: row 4: the classical source for the contrary/contradictory distinction the map attributes to ‘Aristotle’. It is seeded from metadata and published descriptions and has not been read here.
The map names this reference only loosely; this entry is one reasonable reading of it, and the choice is the owner’s to revise.
Identification notes: Map says only ‘Aristotle’. Proposed: Categories ch. 10 (11b15ff) + De Interpretatione ch. 7 (17b), which Ackrill’s single volume covers — one entry covers both loci. Date is the 1963 Ackrill edition (the works are c. 4th c. BCE); owner decides whether the record wants the translation or a free text (e.g. MIT Classics / Perseus URL) instead. Alternative: Metaphysics Iota 4 (contrariety as maximal difference), not proposed.
A close reading was attempted on 2026-09-29. No legitimate full text could be reached: Checked first: the private converted-text cache (no file, no manifest entry). OpenAlex for DOI 10.1093/actrade/9780198720867.book.1: closed (Oxford Scholarly Editions, subscription). The Internet Archive copies of the Ackrill volume (‘categoriesdeinte00aris_0’, 1966; ‘bwb_O4-BNK-245’) are access-restricted-item=true, i.e. lending only. An unrestricted ‘categories-and-de-interpretatione-ackrill’ upload is a user upload of the in-copyright Clarendon text, i.e. an unauthorised third-party upload, and was not used. As instructed, I did not substitute a public-domain translation (e.g. Edghill’s on MIT Classics), which is a different work. No legitimate full text of the Ackrill edition was found. It stays Unavailable until a copy is supplied, not on merit.
