The question

A8 ended by asking “under which decision families and resource constraints does preserving justificatory history provide additional value beyond preserving a sufficient current epistemic state?” A10 found it mis-posed, and QUESTION-112 is what it left. This question is the part A10 answered.

The answer

CLAIM-300, Active, answers both halves from the definition of sufficiency:

  • Redundancy. No. If a state is sufficient for the whole decision family under a model, its history cannot improve ideal performance on that family. That is a negative answer, and it holds by definition.
  • Relativity. Yes. In CASE-087 two histories with the same mean are indistinguishable for μ until one instrument is found miscalibrated, or a mixture is introduced. Then the mean no longer separates them.

How sufficiency should be judged when the family itself changes with what the inquiry finds is not answered here. It remains QUESTION-112’s.
