The case

A35 §7: “Consider a bawdy poem delivered by someone who appears to belong to the criminal subculture it depicts. Replacing the vocabulary with contemporary slang may preserve intelligibility but inadvertently make the speaker sound like an outsider imitating that subculture. The audience may understand the observation perfectly while losing the sense of complicity that made the original work.”

What it can show

That understanding and social effect come apart (CLAIM-054). Stipulated, so it shows the possibility; whether actual modernizations of CASE-010 do this is untested. It was dropped with CLAIM-054.
