Why this is here

The exchange cited it, without describing it, for the liberal side of the trade-and-peace question: interdependence reducing conflict. The abstract is that side’s causal test, and it finds the effect running both ways (trade reduces disputes and disputes reduce trade), which the favour analogy should allow for. Nothing in the exchange’s use disagrees with the abstract. Bears on CLAIM-404 and CLAIM-330 (a coupled loop, here between exchange and hostility).
