The inference

A34 §4: “If these relations hold exactly for linear operators, then Φ[A_o,B_o] = [A_t,B_t]Φ. This follows algebraically … If a translation preserves the relevant framing operations, it also preserves their algebraic relationships—including their noncommutativity.” A40 §6.4 asked for the approximate version, “bounds on commutator mismatch from the errors of individual intertwining relations and the norms of the operators”, which the manuscript §9 supplies as an identity.

Critical questions

  • Do the premises hold? Exact linear intertwining is an idealization; the manuscript’s identity covers the approximate case. And they cannot be checked against data. CLAIM-253: “Its first critical question, whether the premises hold, cannot be answered from data, because the premises are about operators the data do not identify.” The defects are defined on interpretive states, and two models equal on every observation can carry defects of 0 and of the largest size. The algebra still holds; what fails is the step from data to the premises.
  • Does the formal result apply? Only to Φ’s image. A40 §6.4: “unless Φ is sufficiently informative, preserving its image of a commutator does not establish preservation of the entire commutator structure” (CLAIM-011).
  • Does it reach what is observed? Not by itself. CLAIM-253: the identity reaches observed order effects only through an outcome correspondence K with KO = O′Φ, and “The readout defect E_O is a third defect. No draft names it.” The inference carries the commutator on interpretive states. On observed responses the order effect is bounded by ‖E_O[A,B]μ‖ + 2(‖E_A‖ + ‖E_B‖), and CLAIM-231 gives the bound identified from data.

Note of 2026-10-27: the edge says what the claim uses

The status review of this date (ADR-057, ADR-058) re-pointed rests_on from CLAIM-117 to CLAIM-373 (Active, demonstrated), whose identity Φ[A,B] − [A′,B′]Φ = A′E_B + E_A B − B′E_A − E_B A gives this inference’s exact case with zero defects, as CLAIM-373’s history says. The inference takes the intertwining as a hypothesis. It does not use CLAIM-117’s thesis that fidelity requires it.
