The claim

CLAIM-471 version 4 said measurement “can establish correspondences among local descriptions”. The twenty-fourth status review narrowed that to “estimate”, because nothing the record holds goes further. This entry keeps the stronger form as a thesis: for some measured correspondences there is evidence, not produced by the measurement, against which the estimate can be checked. That is what CLAIM-143’s proviso asks for (“independently validated and not admitted because they remove the disagreement”). It is also what CLAIM-342 asks of any loop: evidence whose arrival or scoring does not pass through the interpretation it tests.

Where it stands

  • Singer (NOTE-1224) estimates relative angles and validates them jointly, by consistency around cycles, under a noise model.
  • Hansen and Ghrist (NOTE-1233, §8.7) adjust measured relationships until a section exists.
  • Robinson (NOTE-1221) trusts his maps, and in his Case 2 a sensor bias cannot be told apart from an error in the maps.

None of them checks a correspondence against independent evidence. A held case would promote this claim. An example is clock offsets estimated by signal exchange and then checked against a co-located reference that took no part in the exchange. An argument that every check reduces to consistency would defeat it. The pragmatic-transport form of the question is QUESTION-005.

Note of 2026-10-30: what holds it back

No held case checks a measured correspondence against evidence the measurement did not produce: Singer’s are validated only by cycle consistency under a noise model (NOTE-1224), Robinson’s are trusted (NOTE-1221), and Hansen and Ghrist adjust relationships until a section exists (NOTE-1233). One such case would promote it.
