Why it is a question

A48, after outline v3: “The main unresolved issue … [is] how to operationalize corresponding communicative environments and responses without building our preferred notion of fidelity into the measurement procedure itself.”

Every fidelity measure in the record needs it. That includes the context correspondence τ of TERM-033 and the manuscript’s §6, and the admissible transport of CLAIM-077. A24 had already said “the correspondence between contexts cannot be assumed”.

Where it stands

A49’s admissibility condition excludes collapse but takes the observable distinctions as given. The manuscript preregisters the cover and splits annotators (§10), and calls the choice of observables “itself normative and empirically contestable” (§11). That makes the choice explicit without saying how the correspondence of source and target contexts is fixed independently of the fidelity it is used to measure.

Note of 2026-10-11: material in the record that may bear on this

A synthesis review of 2026-10-11 found these entries bearing on this question without being linked to it. Each is listed for what its title says; none has yet been assessed as an answer, and none is linked by answers.

Note of 2026-10-12: entries filed on 2026-10-10 that engage this question

The note of 2026-10-11 lists material as unassessed and names none of PR #121’s entries. PR #121’s round of 2026-10-10 engaged this question in several. CLAIM-212, a proposal, says that for report tasks “the task correspondence is the identity”, so the question stays open for re-performance. CLAIM-224, an open objection, says that under CLAIM-151 this question “changes kind”: the correspondence becomes part of what the act is. CASE-063 documents a correspondence of situations fixed by an adapter’s fiat. CLAIM-239 says that an argued negative answer to this question would meet CLAIM-143’s second disjunct.
