Open. The manuscript’s answer is CLAIM-115. What would count as an answer here is a specification of the preserved object that can be measured on real translations, retellings and cross-modal renderings, and that predicts human judgements of communicative fidelity better than semantic similarity does.

The record holds a measured case: THEORY-226 (Abdulhai et al., LIT-997). LLM revisions of student essays keep topic and genre and move further in sentence-embedding space than the students’ own revisions, in a direction shared across essays, models and prompts. It does not answer the question: its measure is the embedding similarity an answer must beat, and no fidelity judgements were collected.
