The claim
A18 §7: “Variations in translation can be understood as transformations between pragmatic frames of reference, where the challenge is to preserve selected invariants of the communicative act—particularly its illocutionary force, speaker footing, and interpersonal stance—despite changes in the linguistic and social coordinates through which that act is realized.” And the “more provocative” form: “Just as the physical significance of an event cannot be identified with its coordinates in a particular reference frame, the communicative significance of an utterance cannot be identified with its linguistic form in a particular pragmatic frame.”
Why it was replaced
Its argument is ARG-004, undercut by CLAIM-035. Its act object went at A24. What it became is CLAIM-098. The provocative form’s second half lives on in CLAIM-115.
