Why this is here

Shows legacy motivation as a measurable and manipulable cause of concern for a future one will not see. For QUESTION-301.

Read in its place

The work cannot be read here, so the record holds it at second hand.

Wickersham et al. 2020 (NOTE-1316), with Zaval as second author, uses the 2015 paper’s materials and calls its own result a replication. It gives, in print, the eight Legacy Motivation Scale items, the six intentions items, the Trees for the Future donation wording and a legacy writing prompt “adapted from” the original. It reports of the original only that generative and legacy concerns “are strongly correlated with pro-environmental action” and that reflecting on one’s legacy “can promote pro-environmental engagement” (p. 2), which agrees with the LIT’s summary. Missing still: the original’s samples, its correlational study, its numbers and effect sizes, whether it tested mediation, and how far its prompt and scale differ from the adapted ones here.
