Onurcan Yilmaz, Mehmet Harma, Burak Doğruyol (2021), European Journal of Psychological Assessment 37(2):149–160 — DOI-10.1027/1015-5759/a000627

Key takeaways

  • An independent Turkish team reproduces the MAC-Q’s pattern: seven factors fit the Relevance items and not the Judgement items, so the authors recommend the Relevance subscale alone.
  • The seven are highly intercorrelated, and a single higher-order “cooperation” factor also fits acceptably.

Standing in the record

Filed on 2026-10-02 at the owner’s request, as one independent cross-cultural validation of the MAC-Q (LIT-496), with the rest of the morality-as-cooperation programme (ADR-018). The owner’s brief listed Curry among its authors. He is not one: the authors are Yilmaz, Harma and Doğruyol, all at Istanbul universities, and that independence is why this validation was chosen.

NOTE-397 is the close reading of 2026-10-02, and it placed the work Active. It is a careful, modest replication. It does not move LIT-047. Like the MAC-Q it has no non-cooperative item, so it says nothing about whether purity, sex or harm are moralized. Its MFQ data show a Turkish-sample latent correlation of .97 between Authority and Sanctity, which is the only purity evidence in it. The correlation shows that sanctity concerns in this sample are hard to separate from deference. It does not show that they are cooperative.
