The claim

A102: “structuralism may provide the philosophical foundation that our mathematical framework has been approaching from the opposite direction.” Its thesis: “Communicative meaning is constituted through systems of distinctions and relations. Translation transports these systems across representations and contexts, selectively preserving or transforming their differential, probabilistic, and interactional structure.” With Saussure: “affectionate teasing … is partly constituted by its contrasts with admonition, ridicule, sympathy”, and “Saussure gives us differential value. Sheaf theory gives us a language for the locality and compatibility of those differential relationships” (CLAIM-082). Its example of a structural change: “a translation could preserve the distinction between teasing and sincere praise while collapsing the distinction between teasing and condemnation. That would be a meaningful structural change even if the translated utterance remained semantically close to the original.”

A102 also brought in the manuscript’s third refrain, “You should stop wasting your money and start saving” (CASE-012), as an inversion “Shared implication → External evaluation”, likened to a myth transformation.

Why it was replaced

It came with a contrast between structuralist invariance and transport (CLAIM-015), which the owner objected to at U37 (CLAIM-040). A105 restated the thesis in terms of invariance and equivariance (TERM-004) (CLAIM-108).
